USBC governs the game - that means your bowlers know they will have fair conditions and can simply focus on having FUN! Here are the ways USBC does it:

Rules and bonding. Certifying with USBC provides your league insurance to protect league funds from dishonest acts by league officers, burglary and hold up. By certifying with the National Governing Body, your league is protected by USBC official rules and you have access to counselors to assist in interpretations and enforcements.

Specifications and Certification. USBC members are contributing to the good of the game by supporting the specifications and certifications team at USBC headquarters. Our staff members test every bowling pin, ball, lane surface, polish and cleaner before they hit the market.

This week's tip for season preparation: Run an efficient league meeting

It's important to make sure your league meetings are efficient. Come in to your meeting with a list of objectives. Devote as much time to each task as necessary, but don't allow your meeting to digress.

Where can I find a member’s league average on bowl.com?

You can find averages for USBC members on bowl.com using the “Find a member” feature on the top right portion of the page:

Average information has been updated on bowl.com. Information for each member now includes all association members, league averages and personal accomplishments.

The averages on bowl.com are the averages (21 games minimum) reported by the league as of the date specified by the local association. It still remains the responsibility of the bowler to verify that the average they have submitted is in compliance with the competition rules (Rule 319a(3)).

  About Associations

The USBC depends on its small army of volunteers who work mostly behind the scenes, implementing services that make your bowling experience fun, exciting and fair.

The United States Bowling Congress has a national network of about 35,000 USBC volunteers who manage more than 3,100 USBC local and state associations across the country.

They provide the following services to bowling centers and leagues near you:

  • Managing and operating USBC local and state tournaments.

  • Administering, processing and reporting bowler information, tournament scores, award requests and association board data.

  • Promoting the sport of bowling through association Web sites, newsletters, news releases and public relations committees.

  • Recruiting new USBC members, particularly youth bowlers.

  • Offering local training and education opportunities.

  • Running fund-raising events for charities.

Since each league is governed by its own board of directors in accordance with Rule 103b, associations may not dictate to them regarding adopted rules, etc.

Association officials may, if invited, sit in on league board meetings where important issues are being discussed and act in an advisory capacity to answer any questions regarding procedures the league must follow.
