Alberta E. Crowe, a seven-term president of the Women's International Bowling Congress, was recognized by her peers not only for great service but great leadership and depth of character. Her dedicated efforts brought improvements in member services, competition opportunities and leadership training for women.

Under Crowe's direction, the Star of Tomorrow annual honor for young women bowlers was launched in 1961. When the original sponsor withdrew support, Crowe personally took on responsibility for expenses related to the recognition, which became known as the Alberta E. Crowe Star of Tomorrow award. WIBC assumed sponsorship for the award upon Crowe's retirement in 1981 and added a scholarship component in 1985.

The Youth Ambassador of the Year Award annually recognizes one male and one female USBC Youth bowler for his/her exemplary contributions to the sport of bowling, academic accomplishments and community involvement. Selection of winners is based solely on their contributions to the sport of bowling (excluding league or tournament play), academic accomplishments and community involvement. Any person or organization with knowledge of an individual's accomplishments in these areas may nominate that individual.
Winners of this award must be current USBC Youth members.

Each of the award winners will receive a $1,500 scholarship and an expense-paid trip to the awards ceremony held in conjunction with the USBC Convention in the spring. One of the two award winners may be selected as a member of the USBC Youth Committee to serve on the committee for a period of three years. In addition, the quality of the selected candidate’s service on the Youth Committee could earn this person additional scholarship funds. Since it will be necessary for this person to travel independently to board functions, a Youth Ambassador selected to serve on the Youth Committee must be 18 years or older as of August 1 in the year of their selection.

USBC Earl Anthony Memorial Scholarships

The legendary Earl Anthony won 41 Professional Bowlers Association National Tour titles (including six PBA National Championships, two PBA Tournament of Champions and two American Bowling Congress Masters) and seven PBA Senior Tour titles. A member of both the PBA and ABC Halls of Fame, he was the first pro bowler to achieve over $1 million in career earnings.

A low-key competitor with an accurate, consistent and controlled style that lead many to call him "The Machine," Anthony displayed true concern for youth bowlers' success. In 1980 he partnered with the American Junior Bowling Congress in a national contest for youth to "Beat Earl Anthony," launching what later morphed into the popular "Beat the Coach" challenge that many USBC Youth leagues still conduct today.

USBC's Earl Anthony Memorial Scholarship competition was launched in 2004, three years after Anthony's death.

Chuck Hall spent most of his adult life helping young people through his long-time association with junior bowling. He joined the American Junior Bowling Congress in 1959 as a field representative and quickly advanced to director of field services in 1961 and then executive director in 1962 to lead the organization's day-to-day operations. AJBC merged with the Youth  Bowling Association in 1982 to form the Young American Bowling Alliance, and Hall served as YABA's executive director until his retirement in 1985. During his years with AJBC and YABA, he found many opportunities to promote youth bowling and was involved in the formation and development of what is now known as USBC's Youth Leaders program.

When the American Bowling Congress launched its male Star of Tomorrow scholarship competition in 1980, the award became known as the Chuck Hall Star of Tomorrow.

Previous winners of the Chuck Hall Star of Tomorrow award include Justin Hromek (1985), Patrick Healey Jr. (1986), Lonnie Waliczek (1989), Robert Smith (1992), Andrew Cain (1999) and Sean Rash (2001).
